FIX FLOX (Ciprofloxacin) is a synthetic antibiotic designed to combat a range of bacterial infections in fish. It targets both gram-negative and certain gram-positive bacteria, making it a treatment for diseases such as columnaris infections (black patch necrosis, saddleback disease, and fin rot). It's effective against furunculosis in fresh and saltwater environments. This inhibits enzymes essential for bacterial DNA replication and repair, thereby halting the growth of bacteria that are resistant to other antibiotics.
Dissolve a 500 mg tablet in 2 gallons of water and administer in a hospital tank for an hour, with this process repeated daily for 5-7 days, accompanied by water changes after each treatment. It's crucial to note that Fix Flox is strictly for aquarium use, for ornamental fish and organisms, and should not be used for fish destined for human consumption. Keep in a securely closed container at a controlled room temperature between 59°-86°F (15°-30°C).
